Diagram Line Tools

This video demonstrates the line drawing options in the Just Play diagram tool and gives you tips on how to use all four of our line tools to create quick, clean, and easy diagrams.

The Just Play diagram tool gives you four great line drawing options to help you create diagrams very quickly.

Straight Line Tool
The first group of line tools in the bottom bar is for drawing straight lines. To draw a straight line, first click on line button in the bottom bar. You will see control points appear on all of your figures on the canvas. To attach and draw a line for a figure, click on the control point where you want the line to start. Hold and drag to draw the line to your desired end point. Release the mouse to complete the line. You can then click on the line and move the end points to make adjustments.

Right Angle Line Tool
Drawing a right angle line is very similar to drawing a straight line. Select a right angle line button from the second group in the bottom bar. To attach and draw a line for a figure, click on the control point where you want the line to start. Hold and drag to draw the line to your desired end point. Release the mouse to complete the line. You can then click on the line and move the end points to make adjustments.

Multi-point Line Tool
The third group of line tools in the bottom bar is for drawing multi-point lines. Drawing this type of line is a bit different than the other three because each click on the canvas will draw a new segment for the line. To draw a multi-point line, select a line button from the third group in the bottom bar. Click once on the canvas where you want the line to begin. Click again on the canvas to draw the first segment. Continue clicking to draw new segments until your line is complete. To end the line, click on the "Finish Line" buttons that appear at the top and bottom of the canvas, click outside the canvas, or press the ESC key.

Update: You can now use the multi-point tool to combine straight and curved lines. To do this, hold the SHIFT key to toggle between a straight and a curve line for each segment of the multi-point line you are drawing. Holding SHIFT and click on the canvas will set the segment as a curve and give you the same options for adjusting the arc as you have with the curve line tool (see below).

Curve Line Tool
Drawing curved lines is very easy in the Just Play diagram tool. Once you have selected a curve line button from the far right group in the bottom bar, click, hold, and drag from the point on the canvas you want your line to start. Drag to the point on the canvas where you would like the line to end and release. You will then see green control points which can be dragged to adjust the curve of the line.
